Position: Oil and Gas Engineer
Location: Bakersfield, California
Salary: $195,233 – $230,000 per year

Oil and Gas Engineer (Kecorp, Inc.; Bakersfield, California): Provide comprehensive safety oversight for all operations, including hazard identification, stop-work authority, daily safety meetings, and pre-activity checks before all high-consequence activities. Coordinate and schedule daily operations in a team environment, ensuring personnel have a clear understanding of safety and operational expectations. Maintain rigorous compliance with all regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements. Manage the activities of drilling/workover rigs, pumping equipment, wireline and coil tubing units, as well as oversee the activities of service company personnel and equipment. Maintain effective cost control by monitoring and reporting on daily and cumulative costs, providing timely and constructive feedback. Work closely with Workover Superintendents and Planning Engineers to ensure seamless operations. Maintain a clear understanding of and apply all Standard Operating Procedures, while following Drilling or Workover Programs. Implement Management of Change and Risk Uncertainty Management/Mitigation processes as needed. Communicate with contractors to plan and execute projects. Ensure performance targets are met by addressing and resolving operational challenges by fostering safety and a culture of Operational Excellence (OE). May travel to anticipated and unanticipated worksite locations within the United States on an as needed basis up to 100% of the time (10% domestic travel).

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience: Seven (7) years of experience as an Oil and Gas Engineer or related field.

Must have experience with the following:

  • Well and drilling engineering, including well design, foam or drilling mud chemistry, rheology, wellbore stability, drilling efficiency, bit selection and sidetracking
  • Reservoir engineering, including reservoir characteristics, fluid properties, and production techniques
  • Analyzing and interpreting well data (drilling and wireline logs, pressure data, and production data, wellbore diagrams, and operations history)
  • Federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and acts
  • Obtaining necessary permits and approvals from CalGEM, Kern County Oil & Gas Ordinance, California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB)
  • Supervising operations involving drilling rigs, workover rigs, pumping equipment, wireline units, and coil tubing units
  • Conducting thorough audits and inspections to identify potential issues and ensure that equipment complies with safety and operational standards
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software for mapping and analyzing spatial data related to habitat, species distribution and project impacts
